A corridor to the left of the cathedral façade leads to the Chiostro dei Canonici – the Cloister of the Canons – the oldest cloister in Verona. Damaged by bombing in 1945 during the Second World War, it was partially rebuilt but, despite this, it retains many of its original features, maintaining its historical charm.

It represents a quiet oasis where you can still breathe an air of peace and tranquillity, immersed in a striking play of light and shadow created by the rhythmic succession of arches supported by twin columns in red marble. It is a rectangular space useful for the daily life of the Canons, providing a link between the communal areas. A crucial hub for daily activities, it offers the opportunity to observe the historical stratification of the early Christian and Romanesque churches below, thanks to the presence of a large archaeological excavation. The original side, with two floors, features an evocative play of light and shadow created by the overlapping of two rows of twin columns. Along the walls you can see some sepulchral inscriptions from the Cathedral.
